White Dress, Green Wedding

You have found the love of your life and are ready to celebrate the beginning of the rest of your lives together, surrounded by the love of family and friends and the stunning natural beauty of Maui. Having a destination wedding is a fantastic idea, but doing something far from home can require the help of a skilled local Maui wedding planner.

This is where A Maui Wedding Day comes in. We are the inventors of the LOV3 initiative. By choosing us, you are choosing to love another, love land, and love community. We are your go-to Maui wedding planner if you are seeking a dream wedding that is also green. We will work with you and your beloved to create a destination wedding that is sustainable and shows your love for the planet, as well as one another.

We do this by first partnering with vendors that believe in cost-efficient, eco-friendly practices as much as we do. Our fair-trade vendors are incredibly respectful in their sourcing of materials and employees. They do not tolerate discrimination or child labor and believe that everyone should be paid a fair livable wage in a safe working environment. Knowing that these ethical companies are part of your day can give you peace of mind.

We have left no stone unturned when it comes to planning your planet-friendly Maui wedding celebration. Below are some of the ways that we go above and beyond in making every facet of our wedding celebrations gloriously green.

VENUES

It doesn’t get much more beautiful than a Maui wedding. Our island’s nature provides a stunning backdrop for any ceremony or reception with majestic mountains, mesmerizing ocean views, eye-catching tropical flowers, and comfortable temperatures year-round. There are untold places that will make for a magical setting for your nuptials.

INVITATIONS AND SIGNAGE

The first communication your guests receive, whether it be a save the date or an invitation, sets the tone for the style of your event. If you are not choosing to do digital communications, which is the eco-friendliest option, we recommend using recycled and sustainably sourced paper that isn’t coated in plastic or metallics. There are even papers that contain seeds and can be planted later to grow a beautiful plant that reminds your guests of you.

Keep your invites simple and short, avoiding extra flyers and envelopes, and use a wedding website for other communications and for RSVPs. In addition, skip wedding programs and possibly post the day’s event on larger reusable signage at the venue’s entrance. These little modifications can make a big difference.

FOOD AND DRINK

A green wedding will feature locally sourced, seasonal ingredients. Maui and its surrounding islands have an abundance of mouth-watering food options that will allow you to create meals that your guests remember for years to come. It is also helpful to feature beautifully plated meals, as opposed to a buffet. This will significantly cut down on waste, and any leftover food can be composted.

When it comes to drinks, Hawaii has a wide array of local beers and craft cocktails to tempt your guests with a taste of the islands.

MUSIC AND ENTERTAINMENT

The vibrant and rich culture of Hawaii is present in the people of every island. There are many talented local musicians on Maui, as well as hula dancers. Incorporating these gifted artists can be an impactful and beautiful way to share your love of the Polynesian culture while supporting those who continue to enrich its cultural legacy.

RENTALS AND DECOR

When you choose locally sourced, reusable decor, you support local businesses and reduce waste. Choose china and glassware instead of plastic and wood-look tables that don’t need to be repainted frequently. A Maui Wedding Day also supports rental vendors who engage in green cleaning and sanitizing practices to limit their environmental impact.

FLORALS

We recommend choosing seasonal, locally grown flowers, which abound on the islands. Choosing vintage display containers adds character and sustainability to your decor, as well. When you are finished with your flowers, consider donating them to hospitals or retirement homes. Giving your flowers a second life will provide much joy for people after your wedding day. That is something everyone can smile about.

Our dream team at A Maui Wedding Day will be elated to help you plan a beautiful and green Maui destination wedding experience that you will treasure for a lifetime and beyond.
